This measure was adopted by the municipal council in July 2023 and is part of the Mobility Implementation Programme. In this way we keep our neighborhoods livable, accessible and traffic-safe. In this way we ensure that residents can park near their home.
Expansion of paid parking
Expanding the paid parking area takes place in five steps. An area is added for each step. We start in the East district, where paid parking will be introduced from July 1, 2024. This is followed by Sportpark en Zuid, Oude Haven, Raadhuis and finally Noord. The rollout will be completed on July 1, 2025 and paid parking will be introduced in the entire area up to and including the outer ring. Councilor Bart Heller (Mobility): "Many residents indicate that they want the neighborhoods to remain liveable and accessible. With the expansion of paid parking, we are reducing parking nuisance and ensuring that residents who can apply for a parking permit can do so themselves. can park in their neighborhood."
To inform
At the beginning of May 2024, we will send a letter to all addresses in the area up to and including the outer ring. The letter contains information about the planning and more information about parking permits for residents. In addition, from the beginning of May there will be more information on our website about the expansion of the paid parking area. Two months before the introduction of paid parking in a neighborhood, residents and entrepreneurs receive a letter informing them about the work and more practical information about applying for a parking permit and the arrangements for visitors.
New permit for current permit holders
In addition to the expansion of the paid parking areas, we are also switching to a new supplier. All current permit holders must therefore apply for a new permit from the Parking Service Cooperative before July 1, 2024. All permit holders will receive a letter with information at the beginning of May. Walk-in moments are also organized for residents and entrepreneurs who have questions. During those moments, the Parking Service Cooperative can help them with their request.
