Through the free online game, children are trained to become a Cyber Agent who can recognize and prevent online danger. This way they can also teach others how to stay safe online, and as Cyber Agent of the municipality of Hilversum they contribute to the protection of the local society. In this way, we are committed to a safe online world together!
It is not the first time that the municipality of Hilversum calls on children between the ages of 8 and 12 to register as a Cyber Agent. Many children have already responded to this call in 2021. Mayor Gerhard van den Top: "At HackShield, children not only learn how to protect themselves online, but also their parents, grandfathers and grandmothers, for example. As mayor, I see every day how important it is to work together towards a safer society, both at street and online. Just as we protect our society against criminals on the street, we also need Cyber Agents to help us catch the 'bad guys' on the internet. Children are our future digital heroes and their participation in HackShield contributes to a safer online world for us all.”
New this year is that the Cyber Agents will compete against peers from other municipalities in the region: the BEL municipality (Blaricum, Laren and Eemnes), Huizen and Gooise Meren. Participating children can therefore not only become the best Cyber Agent in Hilversum, but in the entire Gooi and Vechtstreek region. The competition runs until the end of May. The best Cyber Agent from each municipality is invited by the police and mayor for a special ceremony. In addition, the best Cyber Agent from these four municipalities will also receive a nice prize.
