Moving from abroad

You are moving to Hilversum from abroad. You will stay in the Netherlands for at least 4 months in the coming six months. Register with the municipality within 5 days of arrival. You visit us personally. If you have a partner and/or children who are moving with you, they must come with you. You make an appointment for this.

What do you need to know

  • You will continue to live in the Netherlands for at least 4 months in the coming six months
  • You must register in person at the Municipal Office within 5 days of arrival
  • Everyone who moves or moves from abroad must come personally
  • This also applies if you have previously lived in the Netherlands and have been deregistered from the municipality

Less than 4 months in the Netherlands

If you stay in the Netherlands for less than 4 months and you have to deal with 1 or more Dutch government organizations (for example for temporary work or pension). Then you can for registration and a citizen service number (BSN) at 19 municipalities.

What do you have to do

  • You make an appointment for everyone who moves with you
    • If you are coming to live in the Netherlands for the first time: choose first location
    • If you have lived in the Netherlands before: choose resettlement

Pack

  • Completed registration form (this will be sent to you with your appointment confirmation)
  • Valid proof of identity, such as a national passport
  • Proof that you are in the Netherlands according to the law, for example a residence permit
  • Original proof of deregistration (if you are coming from Aruba, Curacao, Sint Maarten, Bonaire, Sint Eustatius or Saba)
  • Other original documents of birth, marriage, divorce and possibly death of family members
  • Rental or purchase contract or a declaration of consent (this will be sent to you with your appointment confirmation)

Report your move

You notify the municipality of changes in your personal data. If you do not do this, you can boete .
