You want to temporarily place an object on the sidewalk or in the road. For example, a container, portable toilet, billboard, building materials, scaffolding, or fence. You must report the incident or apply for a permit. You will need to pay for this.
What do you need to know
- Notification: If the object you want to place is less than 6m2 in total and/or has been available for less than 31 days
- Permit: if the object you want to place is larger than 6m2 in total and/or has been there for more than 31 days
- Do you need permission for longer? Then you must submit a new application 4 weeks before the expiry date of the issued permit
- Processing applications takes between 5 working days and 4 weeks. This depends on how complicated your application is. Therefore, make the application on time
- You place as much as possible on your own terrain
- If you want to place a vehicle with a load that is longer than 6 meters or higher than 2,40 meters, you have a tpermission (exemption) required to park
- If you place an object on a parking equipment spot, you need an exemption from the Parking Regulations
No permission
You do not get permission:
- If dangerous traffic situations arise, for example if you want to place the object within 5 meters of a bend
- If you want to place the object in a disabled parking space or parking space for permit holders
- If you want to place the object on the prohibited roadway
- If you want to place the object on a playground, sandbox or playing field
- If the emergency and emergency services cannot pass
- If the object damages the road
- If the object is an obstacle to road maintenance
- If the object causes nuisance, waste or damage to nature
- If you want to place the object in a public green space, unless you have special permission from the municipality
What do you have to do
Submit
- Please enclose a clear situation sketch with your application. You make the sketch on a clear map (e.g. Google Maps) which includes streets, buildings, sidewalks and parking spaces
- Indicate on the sketch:
- where the object is located
- the size of the object
- the scale of the situation sketch
- Submit all documents and data. Only then will we process your request
After your request
- Notification: you will receive a response from the municipality within an average of 5 working days
- Permit: The municipality will process your application within 10 business days on average. Processing complex applications (e.g., construction site planning) takes an average of 8 weeks. Therefore, submit your application on time.
What does it cost
- Notification: the costs depend on the type of object, the size and how long the object has been on the street
- Permit: you pay €68,75 application fee (levies) plus costs that depend on the type of object, its size and how long the object has been on the street
- If you place an object in a paid parking space, you pay €10,25 extra per day, per parking space for the exemption from the parking regulations.
