To use the public road for work or an event, a permit and often temporary traffic measures are required. A condition of the permit may be that you report the temporary traffic measures via the online system Melvin.

What are temporary traffic measures?
- These are necessary for road works, events or other situations where the normal traffic situation is temporarily different.
- These are for the safety of road users, such as motorists, cyclists, pedestrians and road workers.
- These are reported via Melvin (REPORTING Disruptions in the Infrastructure in the Netherlands), the reporting system for road authorities

Before you pass on temporary traffic measures, there is a good chance that you will first a permit need.

Traffic plan
- Must be drawn up by a BRL9101-certified company, the BRL9101 guidelines contain rules that apply to temporary traffic measures
- Drawing of how the work area is shielded
- The correct locations of temporary traffic measures, such as signs and fences
- If the road is partially closed, a cross-section is also required. This is an overview of the width of the roadway. This allows us to assess how much space remains for traffic. Always take into account a 3,5 meter passage for the fire brigade
- If the road is completely closed to one or more road users, a diversion plan must also be drawn up in accordance with the BRL9101 guidelines
