Tap waiver

You want to sell low-alcohol drinks (less than 15% alcohol) during an event or party. For example at a fair, music party or fair. You must apply for a temporary exemption (permission).

What do you need to know

  • The exemption is valid for a maximum of 12 consecutive days
  • You only serve or sell drinks with less than 15% alcohol (e.g. beer, wine, port, sherry, vermouth)
  • Self-mixed drinks, with a part of spirits supplemented with non-alcoholic drinks, are strong drinks and do not fall under the exemption
  • You are at least 21 years old as an applicant
  • You have no heavy fines or convictions to your name. The municipality checks this with the police and the judiciary
  • You apply for the exemption at least 8 weeks in advance

Terms & conditions

  • You do not sell alcohol to anyone under the age of 18. This is also clearly indicated in the place for which the exemption is given (for example with posters or stickers)
  • No alcoholic beverages are allowed
  • The persons selling alcohol must be at least 18 years old
  • You are obliged to also sell non-alcoholic drinks
  • For major events, the mayor can add additional rules to the exemption. For example, the manager must have a Social Hygiene Diploma or that there must be 1 manager present per provision point.
  • At open events, the use of glassware is not permitted and you must use alternatives
  • You must adhere to the keep regulations for disposable cups
