Sprinkle on smoothness

If it is slippery due to snow, ice or freezing, the municipality sprinkles on fixed routes in Hilversum. You can sprinkle salt yourself on places such as sidewalks. If slipperiness is expected due to freezing of wet road sections, grit is applied to prevent roads and cycle paths from becoming slippery.

Smoothness expected

If slipperiness is expected due to freezing of wet road sections, a preventive wet spreading action is initiated to prevent roads and cycle paths from becoming slippery.

Sustained smoothness

In the event of persistent slipperiness due to snowfall and/or ice, we will sprinkle the through roads and radials with priority. In this way, emergency services such as the police, ambulance and fire brigade, but also public transport, can move quickly and safely through the city.

The other residential streets (neighbourhoods) will be closed as soon as the through roads are free of snow and ice.

Spreading route

The main roads and cycle paths that will be gritted first are:

  • Route public transport and emergency services
  • Route main roads, outer ring and center ring
  • Cycle paths route
  • Centre, shopping area, station and market area

The following roads are then gritted:

  • Industrial estate roads
  • Other streets and roads

It can still be slippery after spreading. Therefore adjust your speed and drive carefully.

On the card you can see which streets are included in the gritting routes. Adjust your route accordingly in case of bad weather.
