You may be entitled to assistance if you're unable to manage your household chores yourself and friends, family, or neighbors are also unable to help. Report your situation to the municipality. We will then contact you.
Arrange help yourself
You first try to arrange help yourself. For example, you can ask for help from family, friends or neighbors in your own area. Sometimes there are volunteers in the area who can help you.

Because there are not enough domestic helpers available in the Netherlands, it may take longer before you receive help.
Help from the municipality
- If you are unable to arrange assistance in your area, you may be entitled to household support from the municipality.
- The help is intended for activities in your home such as cleaning, washing and preparing a meal. Maintaining your garden is not part of this
Take the following into account when applying for household support from the municipality:
- Depending on your situation, you will receive help every week or every 2 weeks
- It is not always possible to make up the hours in case of illness or vacation
- It is not always possible to get regular help
- It is not always possible to get help at a fixed time
- There is a waiting period of 2 to 3 months before the help comes to your home for the first time
Possible consequences if you already have household support from the municipality
