You are homeless or homeless and you want to apply for benefits. Which can. You can request this from the municipality where you are most frequent. If this is the municipality of Hilversum, please report to us. If you are homeless, come to the Social Square. If you are homeless, you can apply online.
What do you need to know
- Homeless: You are homeless if you have no place to live. You therefore have no place to stay. You sleep on the street, in empty buildings, parks, porches or a shelter
- Homeless: You are homeless if you keep changing places of residence, but most days you do have a place to sleep. You will then stay with several friends or family. You don't know where you will sleep in a few weeks
Registering the population register
- If you want to apply for social assistance benefit, you must have an address to receive mail from the municipality
- You must therefore be registered in the population register. This is called the Basic Registration of Persons (BRP). You have to do that yourself
- Even if you receive social assistance benefits, you must be registered in the BRP. You must therefore be able to be registered at the address for a longer period of time
Homeless and not registered
- You can (temporarily) use a letter address from the municipality in consultation with an employee of the Social Square. That is an address where the government can reach people without a permanent address
Homeless and not registered
- You must do everything you can to find an address where you can register. For example, by renting a room or registering with someone you know. Such as at the address where you spend most of the night. Or the address where your stuff is
- If it is really not possible to register at an address as a resident, you may be able to temporarily get a letter address from the municipality
What do you have to do
- Homeless: If you are homeless, come to the Social Square. We are open from Monday to Friday between 9.00am and 17.00pm. You fill in a form and you will be called within 5 working days for an intake interview
- Homeless: If you are homeless, you can apply for social assistance online
