Replace household appliance

You need a low income and financial assistance to replace a household appliance. Such as a washing machine, refrigerator or stove. You can then make use of the sustainability scheme for households. You can get a maximum of €500 per device.

What do you need to know

  • You have an income of up to 130% of the assistance standard that applies to you
  • You have no more power than the power limit† An example of wealth is savings
  • Your device is broken or no longer works properly
  • The scheme only applies to a:
    • Washing machine
    • Fridge, freezer or fridge freezer combination
    • Oven, stove or hob
  • The new appliance has at least energy label D
  • You can get a maximum of €500 per device
  • You have not yet received compensation for the replacement of the same type of device in the past 10 years
  • You cannot apply for a device you have already purchased
  • You must make an application before purchasing the device

What do you have to do

  • You find out which appliance you want to buy (minimum energy label D)
  • you fill the application form (pdf, 157 KB) into
  • You send the completed form to the municipality. No stamp is required:

  • You can buy the device on the day of your application, or wait for the application to be approved

Send along

  • Copy of your passport or ID
  • Overview of your income of the last 3 months
  • As complete as possible overview of your assets and debts
  • Are you in an amicable or legal debt process? Please enclose supporting documents of this
  • Copy of statements of all your bank and savings accounts for the last 2 months. Also from your minor children

After your request

  • Once you have submitted the application form and all the requested documents, the municipality will make a decision as soon as possible. This will take up to 8 weeks
  • You will receive a letter with the decision. It states whether you will receive money and if so, how much
  • If you do not agree with the decision, you can contact the person who assessed your application
  • You can also directly to object against a decision of the municipality
