You will receive childcare allowance from the tax authorities, but this is not enough. If you are in education or reintegrating, you may be able to get extra money from the municipality. This is called reimbursement of the personal contribution for childcare costs.
What do you need to know
- You can only get extra money with this scheme if you is entitled to childcare allowance from the tax authorities
- If you have an illness or disability and as a result need childcare, you may be able to get money through the scheme for extra money for childcare in the event of illness or disability
- Childcare is day care (children 0 to 4 years) and out-of-school care (children 4 to 12 years). This can also be a nanny
Terms & conditions
You can apply if one of these things applies to you:
- You are looking for work or you are following a reintegration process. Re-integrating is returning to a job after being unemployed or ill for an extended period of time, and:
- You receive a benefit from:
- Participation Act (PW: assistance) or
- Income provision for older and partially disabled unemployed workers (IOAW) or
- Income provision for older and partially disabled former self-employed persons (IOAZ) or
- General Surviving Dependents Act (Anw)
- You receive a benefit from:
- You are 17 years or younger, you are following a course and you receive social assistance benefits (or could receive social assistance benefits)
- You follow an integration course according to the Civic Integration Act and you receive social assistance benefits
- You are not entitled to benefits, you are registered with the UWV and you are following a reintegration process
- You are following a course and you receive a benefit under the Student Finance Act 2000 (WSF) or the Education Contribution and Study Costs Allowance Act (WTOS).
- You have an income from work and you also receive social assistance benefits
- You received a benefit from the PW, IOAW, IOAZ or Anw, but it stopped because you found work. You have an income of up to 110% of the social assistance standard that applies to you
What do you have to do
- If you receive social assistance benefits and meet the conditions, you can get the application form from your client manager
- If you do not receive social assistance benefits, but do meet the conditions, you can request the application form via juniorclientmanagers@hilversum.nl
- You send the completed form to the municipality. No stamp is required:

- Copy of a valid ID. Note: no driver's license
- Overview of your income of the last 3 months
- As complete as possible overview of your assets and debts
- If you receive debt counseling, please also include the calculation of the amount to be released. This is the amount you have left to live on
- Copy of statements of all your bank and savings accounts for the last 2 months. Also from your minor children
After your request
- Once you have submitted the application form and all the requested documents, the municipality will make a decision as soon as possible. This will take up to 8 weeks
- You will receive a letter with the decision. It states whether you will receive money and if so, how much
- If you do not agree with the decision, you can contact the person who assessed your application
- You can also directly to object against a decision of the municipality
