You have an income of up to 130% of the social minimum. Then you may be able to get extra money to pay your energy bill. This is called energy surcharge.
What do you need to know
- Do you have a low income and do you meet the conditions? You can apply for the 30 energy allowance until June 2024, 2023 via the button above
- Once we have received your complete application, it will take a maximum of 8 weeks to assess your application
- Did you receive the energy allowance in 2022, are you not a student and do you still live in Hilversum? Then you will have received the 2023 energy surcharge of € 1300 on your account in November 2023.
Conditions for applying for energy allowance
You are entitled to allowance if you:
- Have a (joint) disposable income that does not exceed 130% of the statutory social minimum 2023 (see the table below); and

- is registered in the municipality of Hilversum in the year 2023; and
- are 21 years or older; and
- are not a student;
- has a valid Dutch ID or a valid residence permit; and
- has an energy contract in your name. Or you have a rental agreement that states that you incur energy costs
Do you have a debt settlement based on of the WSNP or MSNP? Then you automatically meet the income limit and you can qualify for the energy allowance.
Please note!
Have you already received some of the 2023 energy surcharge in your old municipality? You can then apply for the remaining amount to your new municipality, the municipality of Hilversum.
For example: You received €500 in your old municipality, then you can apply for €800 in your new municipality, the municipality of Hilversum. The municipality of Hilversum is conducting research with the old municipality for this.

Authorize your partner
Do you have a partner? Then your partner must do it first complete the authorization form. You will need the number you receive at the end when applying for your energy allowance, so keep it safe.
