Sometimes a medical examination is necessary if you want to apply for or renew your driver's license. You can arrange a medical examination via a health certificate.
What do you need to know
Medical examination required:
- Your driver's license expires on or after your 75th birthday
- You have a medical disability that affects your driving ability
- You apply for a driver's license for a truck or bus
- You exchange a driving license from a country outside the European Union

The health certificate is valid for 1 year.
What do you have to do
You can buy a health declaration via:
- CBR: this is the fastest way to arrange a health declaration. The CBR advises to do this at least 4 months before the expiry of the driving license. Do this 6 months in advance if you expect to see a medical specialist. You log in via DigiD and you pay with iDeal
- Appointment: you can also make a Make an appointment at the counter of the Municipal Office if you are 75 years or older
