You wish to apply for or renew a passport, for yourself or for your child. You must make an appointment for this. You must be present in person when applying and collecting. This also applies to (young) children.
Note:
Schedule your appointment in advance. It can sometimes be busy, so it may take a few days or weeks before you can make an appointment.
What do you need to know
- You can pick up your new passport 5 working days after your appointment.
- You must be present in person when applying for and collecting the passport. This also applies to (young) children
- You have the Dutch nationality
- You must collect your new passport from the City Hall within three months of applying. After this period, we are legally obligated to destroy the document. You will not receive a refund if you do so.
- For children up to the age of 18, a passport is valid for 5 years
- For adults, a passport is valid for 10 years
- From the age of 14 it is mandatory to always have a valid proof of identity with you, such as an identity card, passport or driver's license
Passport missing
If you have lost your passport, you can do this indicate online. You can also make an appointment to report this at the city office.
Emergency
- If you need your passport quickly, you can submit an urgent application. You can arrange this by appointment at the counter of the Municipal Office
- If you apply for the passport before 13.00 p.m., you can collect it the 2nd working day after the day of application, from 11.00 a.m.
- You pay more for an urgent request
2nd passport
- In addition to your normal passport, you can 2nd passport request
- This is possible, for example, if your passport is often at a foreign consulate for a visa application. Or if you travel to countries in conflict
Business passport
- If you travel a lot for your job, you can also get a business passport to request. That has more pages for visas and customs stamps
- If you apply for a business passport, you cannot also apply for a normal passport

- Children under the age of 18 need permission to apply for a passport. Of this online consent form parents or guardians give permission for the application. You need your DigiD for this. Note: Do both parents/guardians have authority? Then both parents/guardians must give permission. Does 1 parent/guardian have authority? Then only the authoritative parent/guardian will give permission

Take with you when you pick up
You must collect your passport in person. This also applies to (young) children. Make an appointment to collect your passport.

- After 3 months we must destroy your passport. You will then not get your money back
