Rules for dog owners

You need to clean up your dog's poop. Otherwise you may be fined. There are special off-leash areas or run fields in Hilversum where your dog is allowed to walk without a leash. Here, too, you must clean up your dog's poop.

What do you need to know

  • You should always clean up your dog's dog poop. If you do not comply with this, there is a risk that you will have to pay a fine of €159 including administration costs
  • You must have good material with you to clean up the dog poop. If you do not comply with this, there is a risk that you will have to pay a fine of €109 including administration costs
  • Within built-up areas, your dog must be on a leash. If you do not comply with this, there is a risk that you will have to pay a fine of €109 including administration costs
  • You may not take your dog to children's playgrounds, sandpits, playing fields or sports facilities. If you do not comply with this, there is a risk that you will have to pay a fine of €159 including administration costs
  • If you experience nuisance from dog poop, you can do this report to the municipality

Guide or assistance dog

A guide or assistance dog or a dog in training to become a guide or assistance dog is allowed on children's playgrounds, sandboxes, playing fields or sports facilities. If you have a dog in training as a guide or assistance dog, you must be able to demonstrate that the dog is being trained through a qualified training.  

Running fields and off-leash areas

Your dog is allowed to run loose on the following run fields and off-leash areas. You also have to clean up the dog poop here.

  • Green / grass around Riebeeck pond
  • Green / grass around Oude Haven
