Children's Municipal Council presents 10 plans for a better Hilversum

November 27 2025
The plans were submitted by individual children's council members and consist of ten Hilversum children from the eighth grade. Each child, either individually or with their class, came up with an idea to make Hilversum an even better place. The children's council is reconstituted each school year and has its own budget of €8.000 to implement a selected plan.

A variety of ideas were discussed during the presentations. For example, one council member proposed a library bus to give all children easier access to books. Another child conceived of a sporting event, while a third suggested a children's trade fair where they could learn about entrepreneurship in a playful way. An idea was also put forward for a colorful flower ribbon and for creating impressive (3D) street art to give Hilversum a real "Wow!"

In addition, there were plans focused on safety, health, and more play space. One council member advocated for improved traffic safety on Loosdrechtseweg, while another wanted to launch a healthy lifestyle campaign. Ideas were also presented for a soccer field in Hilversum Oost and a playground specifically for children over eight. Finally, a vibrant music festival was proposed as a way to bring children together.

In the coming period, the plans will be reviewed by officials. In January, Hilversum's primary schools will also have the opportunity to share their tips and tricks. The children's council will then use this input to debate the plans. Ultimately, the ten council members will choose one plan that will actually be implemented.
