If you have damage and you think that the municipality is responsible for it, you can hold the municipality responsible. Think of damage due to road problems, or because the municipality has not placed warning signs for a dangerous situation. We call this accountability.

You complete the E-form after logging in with Digid and add the requested information or attachments.
Brief
You send a letter in which you clearly explain why you hold the municipality liable to:

In the letter you state:
- Description of the event (with place, date and time)
- Why do you think the municipality is liable
- What damage you have
With the letter you send:
- Photos
- Invoices or quote (if you have one)
- Witness statements (if you have any)
- A police report (if you have one)
You will receive a confirmation of receipt within 2 weeks with an explanation of what will happen. It will take several weeks for your report to be processed. The municipality is investigating the situation and sometimes calls in experts. The municipality will then let you know how to proceed with the liability claim.
