With solar panels on your own roof or a joint (collective) solar roof, you can generate your own electricity. Hilversum will largely generate energy locally and sustainably. For example, by installing solar panels on large roofs and parking lots.
What can you do yourself
Solar panels
- Placing solar panels on your own roof yields the most money
- If you want to install solar panels on your roof, you may need one apply for an environmental permit
- For independent advice on solar panels, please contact the Energy desk Municipality of Hilversum or at the local energy cooperative HilverSun
Sunroofs
- You can also participate in a joint (collective) solar roof. For example, if your roof is not suitable for solar panels
- You then buy panels on someone else's roof and receive cheap electricity
- There are also panels from other residents on a solar roof
- For more information about solar roofs in your area, please visit HilverSun
What does the municipality do
- The Netherlands is divided into 30 energy regions
- The government has commissioned research into where and how these energy regions can best generate sustainable electricity. This concerns solar energy and wind energy on land
- The choice made by each energy region is stated in the Regional Energy Strategy (RES). Hilversum falls under the North Holland South energy region
- In the RES of North Holland South, 1 area in Hilversum is mentioned where a sunbathing area could possibly be built. This is the airport
- No wind turbines are planned in Hilversum
- Hilversum is focusing on solar panels on large roofs and car parks
