You can have your house or building connected to the public sewer. The municipality will then build the connection between the public sewer and your boundary (border of your garden). The section of the sewer pipe in or under the house and garden must be installed yourself.
What do you need to know
- The municipality installs the connection between the public sewer and your property boundary (border of your garden). So not on your own property
- You must install the part of the sewer pipe in or under the house and garden yourself
- The connection is only for wastewater, not for rainwater. Rainwater belongs in the soil and not in the sewer. This is better for the groundwater and sewage treatment
- If the old pipe on your property is still being used by the neighbours, it must remain in place. It is your pipe, but the neighbors keep the right to use it

- Is a closable part of the sewer system
- Used to check or investigate the sewer in the event of a blockage
What do you have to do
You can apply for a sewer connection via sewer@hilversum.nl. Send us:
- The address where you want the sewer connection
- The address to which the bill should be sent
- Your email address and telephone number
Then:
- You will be sent the bill
- You pay the bill
- You will receive your sewer connection within 10 working days
What does it cost
- € 2.006,16 (up to a maximum of 15 meters in length. Each meter more costs extra)
- If we can assess in advance that the connection up to a maximum of 15 meters will cost more than € 2.006,16, we will request a quote from a contractor. Then your sewer connection may cost more
- € 817,12 if we replace the main sewer in your street. You will then receive a discount on the connection costs
