You can request known soil information from the municipality. You can search by address or zip code. You will receive the information by e-mail.
What do you need to know
- The municipality has information about soil investigations, remediation (cleaning), underground tanks and soil-threatening activities in the past.
- For example, you can use the soil information to see whether there is any contamination
- For example, soil information is important if you buy or sell a house or piece of land. As the owner, you may be responsible for cleaning up dirty soil
- As a buyer you are obliged to collect information about possible soil contamination. This is called investigative duty
- As a seller or broker, you are obliged to tell the buyer about possible soil contamination. This is called duty of disclosure
What do you have to do
- If you have any doubts about soil contamination, you can have a soil survey carried out
- In some cases, a soil investigation is mandatory, for example if you want to apply for an environmental permit
