Introduction

My name is Ria de Jong. I am a councilor for Hart voor Hilversum. I was born in Hilversum and have lived there all my life. I am a mother of four children and have one grandchild. I have worked in healthcare and I have also worked as a cultural worker in various community centers.
Given the situation in which I find myself – my daughter has multiple disabilities – I come into contact with many other informal carers.

Motivation

In my care situation I run into many things that I think could be better organized. And in such a way that the care becomes less burdensome for those who have to carry it out.
I see that more work is being done on a better policy in the field of Care and Society. I hope that we can make a lot of breakthroughs together so that care becomes easier.
In this fast-paced and sometimes harsh society, too much is sometimes demanded of people and children. Everyone must be self-reliant and live independently for longer, but not everyone can do that. Politicians must pay attention to people who cannot find their way in the digital world, where people have to look for help.
I hope that we can work together in a solution-oriented way to make things easier for people.
