Introduction

Since 2010 I enjoy living with my family in Hilversum, in the Bloemenbuurt. I am married and have four children, two daughters and two sons (twins), all of whom are still at Violenschool. I have been working at the Ministry of Infrastructure and Water Management since 2020, where I am involved with the implementing organizations of the Ministry such as Air Traffic Control the Netherlands. Before that I worked for a water board for quite a few years.

I enjoy working as a civil servant with great pleasure and conviction and therefore have a big heart for public affairs. I'm even making a podcast about this - Public Work. As a council member, I therefore think it is important to be approachable and accessible, in order to bring politics and the municipality closer to the Hilversummers. My goal is to ensure that the council's decisions are understandable and explainable to everyone, even if you disagree with them.

Motivation

I would like to contribute to what Hilversum will look like in the coming years. Hilversum is of course never finished. It is important to focus on more green in the city, more good homes for young and old and plenty of opportunities for everyone to participate. I think it is important that we take a good look at the current qualities, but also keep an eye out for new ones. Hilversum is in full development! This provides many opportunities to make Hilversum even more beautiful, better and more sustainable.

In the coming years I would therefore like to commit myself to:

  • Better connection between the municipality, the council and the residents

For me, it is an important spearhead to involve residents as early as possible in order to arrive at good plans and smooth implementation. If you want to do something with your neighbourhood, it is good to know what the municipality is planning. Clear planning is therefore very important. For example, I see opportunities to refurbish the playground on Neuweg with the neighborhood.

  • More space for the bicycle

In the coming years, cars and buses will become increasingly green. Pedestrians and cyclists must, however, be given a more central position in order to make Hilversum more accessible and safer.

  • A greener Hilversum

Go green! We can do something ourselves to make Hilversum greener and more sustainable. By insulating, clearing up clutter and greening our garden or balcony. It is necessary to help the residents to get started with this themselves, for example with sustainability loans or advice.
