City tax

If you offer overnight stays to tourists in Hilversum, you are required to pay tourist tax to the municipality from 1 January 2026. This tax is levied for the stay of persons who are not registered in the municipality.

What do you need to know

  • Any entrepreneur who facilitates overnight stays, such as hotels, bed and breakfasts and campsites, must collect and pay tourist tax. This is called a lodging provider
  • Every accommodation provider is required to register with the municipality of Hilversum. Even if you rent through third parties, such as Airbnb, Booking.com, VRBO or another mediation website
  • If you do not report, you run the risk of having to pay back the tax

What do you have to do

  • If you are a residential provider and have contact with the municipality, you do not need to do anything
  • If you are a stay provider and have not had contact with the municipality about tourist tax, you must report to us. This can be done via our registration form or call 14 035

Rates for 2026:

  • Camping per person per night: € 1
  • Other accommodation per person per night: € 3,68
